Poetry
So much depends upon…
So much depends upon
that little wooden airplane
It reminds me of the
past, present, and future
It brought devastation
destruction
and hope
This replica belonged to a man
who served our country well
and I am proud to display it
for everyone to see.
*Dedicated to Mr. Robert C. Williams (my papaw)*
1922-2005
So much depends upon
this giver of light
With the turn of a switch
it changes its purpose
and appearance
Asleep it waits
to be awoken
by the touch
of a human hand.

Megan,
I really like your poems. The one about your papaw is very touching. I think it is wonderful that you have an object that belonged to him and you cherish it.

My mom has a lamp exactly like this. I loved your airplane poem too!! The metaphor in the lamp poem is very intersting and creative!

Your poem dedicated to your grandfather is so touching, it made me tear up. I love that you say it brought devastation, destruction, and hope. My grandfather was also in the war. He was at sea when the bombing took place.

I really liked the light poem. The idea that a lamp is asleep before being touched is a imaginative idea. The airplane poem was touching. I really liked that you included something about your grandfather.

Megan,
I LOVE YOUR LINE BREAKS! The lamp poem is just so perfect. It’s your arrangement of the poem that really makes it work. Well-done!
